About this video: There are a few different ways to breathe underwater in Minecraft Bedrock, and this video covers all of the best options. Whether you need a little extra time underwater while exploring or want unlimited water breathing around an underwater base, we go over everything from turtle shells and Respiration to Water Breathing potions and a fully powered conduit.
One of the easiest options is a turtle shell. You can craft one using five turtle scutes, which you get after breeding turtles and waiting for the baby turtles to grow into adults. Once you have the turtle shell, equip it in your helmet slot to help you stay underwater longer. You can make it even better by adding the Respiration enchantment, which goes up to Respiration III and can be paired directly with the turtle shell.
For longer underwater trips, a Potion of Water Breathing is another great option. You will need blaze powder, three water bottles, Nether Wart, a pufferfish, and Redstone Dust if you want to extend the potion's duration. Place the blaze powder in the brewing stand's fuel slot and your three water bottles along the bottom. Add Nether Wart to the top to create Awkward Potions, then add a pufferfish to turn them into Potions of Water Breathing. Finally, add Redstone Dust if you want the effect to last longer.
If you want the best permanent solution, though, a conduit is the way to go. Craft your conduit using a Heart of the Sea and Nautilus Shells, then build its frame underwater using prismarine blocks or sea lanterns. A basic 16-block frame gives you a 32-block range, and expanding the structure increases that range.
For the maximum conduit range, you will need 42 frame blocks. Build three intersecting 5x5 open rings around the conduit, with each ring positioned at a 90-degree angle to the others. Make sure the conduit itself is completely surrounded by water. Once the full structure is active, you will get the conduit effect within 96 blocks in every direction, allowing you to breathe underwater without continuously using potions or wearing a specific helmet.
