This will let you create a Minecraft Fabric server, add 26.2 Fabric mods to it, and play on the server with your friends. First things first, we will want to download the Fabric Installer. There is a link in the description above that will take you to our complete guide on getting Fabric 26.2. I would recommend sending this to your friends who are going to join the server, as anyone who joins will need Fabric and all the mods on your server installed locally for things to work.
On this page, click "Download Fabric" and then download the installer for Windows. Next, create a "Fabric Server 26.2" folder on your desktop, and open the Fabric Installer.
In the installer, click on "Server", select Minecraft 26.2, and click the three dots next to the "Launcher Location" box. Navigate to and select the folder you created, then click "Install". The Fabric server files will begin to download. From there, click "Download Server Jar" and then "Generate" next to the generate launch scripts option. Finally, click "Done". You will also need to install the Fabric Client on the "Client" tab to join the server.
Now, go to the Fabric Server 26.2 folder on your desktop and double-click the "start.bat" file. Your server will try to start but fail. You will now have an eula.txt file. Open it and, assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA, change eula=false to eula=true. Save the file, and double-click the "start.bat" file again. Your Minecraft 26.2 Fabric server will now start.
At this point, you can play Minecraft using your 26.2 Fabric installation and join your server with the IP address "localhost". Right now, you are the only person who can join.
To add mods, download Fabric mods for 26.2. Then, add them to the "mods" folder on your server. Make sure to type "stop" and hit enter in your server's console, then start the server again for the mods to activate. You and anyone joining your server will also need to install those same mods locally in the "mods" folder within your .minecraft folder. This is required for Fabric mods to work when you join.
For your friends to join, in addition to needing Fabric 26.2 and all the mods on your server installed on their computers, you will also need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocol.
