Many artists asked me: 'How to create art videos during the lockdown? I don't have professional production equipment at hand, I don't know where to start.' Today I want to show you some tips and tricks so you can make better videos with limited resources.
1 Camera - Look for an old camcorder with power-cord, a webcam, action cam, even a baby cam. Ideally your camera is HD resolution. You can use anything that records images, even a phone or a tablet. Make sure connect it to wall socket if you film long videos.
2 Light - It's super important to get enough lights for your production. Diffuse your lights whenever possible, using household products like baking paper and aluminium foil.
3 Sound - This is difficult if you don't have the right space. Use old rugs, old clothes or bedsheets to reduce echoing. Also place a second recorder near your mouth if you have one.
4 Music - Don't use copyrighted music, especially music from famous labels. When you are not sure, avoid using any music because it's not worth the risks.
5 Editing - Best to learn professional editing softwares because now you have all the time you need during lockdown. It will be worthwhile.
6 Making video without a camera or without showing your face? You can use B-rolls such as stock videos and images to create slideshows with your voice-overs. You don't need to show your face to be able to have your own art channel.
