About this video: This video shows you exactly how to make a NeoForge server in 26.1.2 and start playing NeoForge with your friends. We cover everything including how to add mods to your server and allow your friends to join, so let’s get started!
First things first, you will want to download the NeoForge There is a link to get NeoForge above that will take you to our text guide. Click the Download button here to go to the official download page. On that page, select 26.1.2 and click the “Click Here to Download” button to start downloading the NeoForge installer.
Now, create a new folder on your desktop called “NeoForge Server 26.1.2”. Open the NeoForge installer with Java, if you can’t there is a link to get Java above, and then install the client. This is required to join the server for you and anyone else playing on it, so have your friends install NeoForge as well.
Now, open the installer again, click "Install Server" and a red box will appear. Click the three dots in that red box, navigate to the folder you just created, and select it. Make sure the "Server starter jar" box is checked, then click "Proceed". Your NeoForge 26.1 server files will now download into that folder.
Once the files are done downloading, open your server folder and double-click the run.bat file. The server will try to start but will fail on the first attempt. That is completely normal. You will now have an eula.txt file in the folder. Open it in Notepad, change "eula=false" to "eula=true" assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA, and save the file. Double-click run.bat again, and your NeoForge server will now start successfully.
At this point, you can join your own server using the IP address "localhost". However, if you want your friends to join your NeoForge server, you will need to port forward port 25565 on both the TCP and UDP protocols. There is a link in the description above to our complete port forwarding guide. Once that is done, your friends can connect using your public IP address.
To add mods to your server, download NeoForge-compatible mods for Minecraft 26.1 and drop them into the "mods" folder inside your server directory. You and anyone joining the server will also need those same mods installed in the mods folder inside your local .minecraft folder. Without that, things won't work when trying to connect.
