Here's how to make a basic cookie mix. You can make over a dozen different cookies and snack cakes from this mix. It's excellent, be sure to give it a try.

Basic Cookie Mix

8 cups all purpose flour
2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
3 cups shortening

Mix flour, sugars, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a large bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender and mix very well. Store in an airtight container at room temperature no longer than 10 weeks. Makes 16 cups.
