Lets ask Shogo | Your Japanese friend in Kyoto | How to Get Rid of Your Sleeves @LetsaskShogo | Uploaded 4 months ago | Updated 9 hours ago
Kimono sleeves are very long for fashion and to be as pockets, but they do get in your way sometimes. That’s why Japanese people used to do Tasukigaké, using these strings to tie up their sleeves. Let me teach you how to do this. You first hold one end in your mouth. You bring the string under your arm and behind your back. The string goes over your other shoulder, under the other arm, and behind your back again. At this point, there should be an X on your back. Tie the two ends of the string together and move the knot to the back. Once you get used to it, it only takes about 10 seconds to do this. Please check out my online lessons if you want to learn katana techniques.
