One way is being very good at aiming but there are alternatives available.
The demonstrated method requires a glitch called swordless Link (find out more at: zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/ba/swordless-link , I'd recommend the fishing pond method for beginners).
By gaining control of Link during the minigame, you can unload Epona and make her never reach the 'finish line'. It's easy to set up a good aim at the target that way making it very simple to score 2000 points. The game also won't end after shooting all of your arrows so you have to enter some other area which I demonstrated with a newly discovered warp into the Thieves' Hideout.
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
Since this warp will crash your game under almost any circumstance, entering Thieves' Hideout is the advisable option. If you mount Epona on accident and get stuck in some weird place, press the C-button for the cutscene item which will make Link void out and you can try the challenge again.
Getting into talking range of the Gerudo woman will end the minigame state and give you a reward if you haven't received both already.
Inputs to be able to shoot arrows "normally":
- hold Z during this whole part to keep the camera locked
- hold down on the control stick
- press the C-button corresponding to the Bow/Magical Arrows
- adjust the aim with the control stick and press C again to shoot arrows
No cheats or hardware manipulation were used to record this. The glitches involved can be performed on any version and won't affect your game file in any way (you should always equip your sword again before saving when you're swordless to avoid deleting a sword on accident).
If Epona gets stuck somewhere in Gerudo Fortress, enter another area where she can get called and play Epona's Song. In case you skipped the song, you might have to steal her again.
