Over more than 3000km, we had the opportunity to charge nearly 20 times using DC fast charger stations this summer. Here, I take a look at some of the questions we would have had before the journey:
- will we be able to charge the car?
- will the charging speeds be appropriate?
- will there be any wait queuing for the connectors?
- are we informed when something goes wrong, can we see clearly progress?
- are there facilities nearby, for a comfort break
We use our faithful Ioniq EV 28kWh for the tests, as it needs to sip in some new energy frankly.
Overall, the result is broadly positive, if far from perfect, with good opportunities for improvement.
