You made big plans. You took the project to the board and — rejected.

Even if your organization’s board has said “no” to video production in the past, here’s how to definitely get the greenlight this time.

You need to be crystal-clear on your video’s goal AND how you will measure whether or not it has achieved its goal.

Phrase your goal as - who you want to reach and what you want them to do. Be specific. Maybe you want potential supporters to donate, so describe them and the action they need to take.

Next, set KPI’s - that’s a marketing term that stands for Key Performance Indicators. These are measurable numbers. If your goal is to ”inspire supporters to donate,” your KPI would be to have your video seen by 200 new potential donors.

Video views is a measurable number, one that you can prove to the board and show how it will have an impact on your mission.

With those clear plans in hand, you will get that greenlight.
