Eighty-third video. This the first of what I hope to be many tracks from Undertale I recreate in Mario Paint. It's the Hotel theme from Undertale that -- without giving too much away -- plays midway through the third major area. This is also track #54 on the Undertale soundtrack.
The program I'm using is not Mario Paint Composer but a spin-off called Super Mario Paint! Huge credit to Rehdblob for programming it, and you can pick up the program yourself at the link at the bottom of this video. Possibly the most notable difference is that the five-note-per-vertical-bar limit is finally gone! I use a relatively fast tempo anyway to allow for dynamic differences -- figuring out how to represent the quiet percussion of this piece was particularly challenging. Other major advantages to Super Mario Paint are the range extensions (the low A is now real ... and double sharps and double flats are new!) as well as the instrument cutoffs not relying on a glitch. Now that I finally have a computer that can use the program, expect to see a number of compositions using Super Mario Paint (though I'll have some more with Mario Paint Composer too).
Undertale has quickly become one of my favorite games -- the story, characters, gameplay, music, humor resonate very strongly with me. It was actually the Mario Paint community that inspired me to check Undertale out to begin with! So I'd like to give back to the community with a song I don't think anyone's done yet (if I'm wrong, sorry, don't mean to step on any toes). I love this piece and its bossa nova rhythms. More Undertale stuff to come; hope you enjoy!
