All of the horses we save from slaughter go through whatever quarantine they need for us to determine they're safe. Ralphie was very thin, weak and spooky when we rescued him on Christmas. We kept him from the herd until August 3. He's been in a pen adjacent to the herd since February, with periodic one-on-one time with Winston. Today we walked him around the pasture while the rest of the herd ate. This is what he did when we left him off the halter.
