This visit to Bangor Harbour by a Royal Navy Sandown Class Mine Hunter (Penzance) and Fast Patrol Boat (Raider) was an ideal opportunity for the Navy's recruitment team to engage the local public - setting up stall by the ships. In addition, the senior ship ranks were busy entertaining local VIP's from the borough council, adjacent marina etc. This gave us an opportunity to film the working routine of these ships at port within a public space. We thought the Miami Vice style appropriate for this film with the sea, hot weather, all that entertainment and glamour on deck as well the Navy's colourful new recruitment drive to attract a more discerning younger generation. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to locate anyone who was available to talk about the finer points of these visiting vessels on either Saturday & Sunday during the maritime festival, but perhaps potential recruits had more luck!
