UPDATE: This video was made before the episode "Bismuth" came out. Now that we know more backstory from the "Bismuth" episode, some of the speculations in this video are invalidated and some others need revision.
I had this wacky idea since Steven Bomb 4 detonated, and had the outline written since early February, but just couldn’t find the time to create the video. Now with Steven Universe returning for the summer and the “In Too Deep” special event just on the horizon, I finally buckled down and churned this thing out.
I’m sure plenty of people had wondered whether the Crystal Gems were the first ones to develop the ability to summon weapons from their gemstones, but I doubt many people took the thought even further like my strange brain did, and wondered whether the Crystal Gems created more modernized melee weapons as we know them altogether. This video primarily justifies that ridiculous-sounding idea, goes on to speculate on summon weapon origins, and discusses Homeworld’s advancements as contingent on suppressing future rebellions.
