Mount Asama 浅間山 is the most active volcano in Japan's main island of Honshu. It lays barely 70km from Tokyo Prefecture, and is so active that people aren't allowed to climb it.
For a non-official "check-off" of Mount Asama on Japan's 100 famous mountains, we climbed the mountain next to it, Mount Kurofuyama 黒斑山, and then of course we had to finish it off with a dip into a hot spring at Takamine Onsen.
