Two Australians go to the Japanese countryside and attempt to make a video speaking only Japanese. In the town of Chichibu, Saitama surrounded by mountains, there are plenty of amazing outdoor activites. Line Kudari, or river boating on the Arakawa river in Nagatoro is a fun, engaging way to learn about the way merchants utilized the river for the trading industry. The boatmen conducted their tour in Japanese but lucikly we were able to keep up and enjoy the ride!
In the winter season Chichibu holds a winter illumination festival, where they create man-made icicles, and light them up with various colors! No Japanese needed here - just an appreciation for art!
If you explore even more remote areas, you can find yourself at Kinoko no Sato Suzukaen, a place which allows you to cook wild-game meat on top of a piping hot rock! With a menu only in Japanese, there were some difficult kanji to read, but luckily the staff were really helpful!
