Chapter - Jeppy, Meet Your Mom At Spaceforest Cafe, Rescue Dad from the cult, James Stevenson's Penthouse, Nintendo 64 town, Blue Wizard, Kill James Stevenson
Review (continued from last video) – The structure of the game is better than the first one, and you don’t have to go back through areas you have been before to find a path you couldn’t get through before without any guide of where you have to go. You have a waypoint marker so you can never get lost – unless you a stuck on a puzzle. Most puzzles are great, but some puzzles can be easily missed if you forget about a secondary function on one of the weapons. Some that you just need to remember from the previous game.
The levels are very inventive which gives makes the game fresh all the way through. You never know what sort of world you are going to be in or what type of gameplay it will entail. You might end up in a Nintendo 64 style world, or even playing Noah’s Ark on the NES. Or fighting a boss that’s running around inside the pause menu.
The ending of the game isn’t as fun though, as you have to go through a really long court trial (over 40 minutes). It’s funny but it drags on way too long for a video game.
I did find a few game breaking bugs along the way. On one boss, I needed to use the bow and arrow to make a portal to shoot through. It worked for the first half of the fight and then stopped working in the second half. I thought maybe I missed a part of the dialogue that told me that it took the portal ability away from me. I wasted loads of time trying to work out how to attack the boss in another method. After I died, I found out that it was just a bug and my portal shot worked again.
I also fell off a ledge at one point and landed on a tiny ledge sticking out of the cliff. This made the cliff the new spawn point. I was too low down to Hookshot back up and if I tried to jump on the legit platform below, the game would treat that as a pit and respawn me. I eventually managed to get back up by cheesing some mechanics.
Another bug was a section where I simply had to speak to an NPC. It just wouldn’t start the dialogue to progress, so I had to reset the game. Then when I went back to the NPC, it starting talking as it should have.
Having bugs like this in the game made me suspicious so many times whether I needed to solve a puzzle, or it was just the game that broke on me. This isn’t acceptable. I don’t know if this is unique to the Xbox Series release or not.
Bugs aside, this game is still very good. It’s not amazing, but it’s really fun to play and extraordinarily well written and acted. Definitely better than the first game too.
