I always upload my videos now-a-days in the CRHP 'Annotated' format, but I thought that this was just way to neat. Craving The J but not wanting to deal with driving west for possibly nothing, I decided to do the exact opposite, and drive east. I've never foamed East Proviso before, but man oh man I can't wait to do it again. I cross the UP Geneva Sub on 25'th Ave (the only crossing in the Chicago area on the UP Geneva Sub that is not a quiet zone) and see what looks like a dark Ace. "Holy shit it's 1983!" I pull over and get the video camera out, nothing else, because everything was backlit. The train was not a UP train, but it was one of only a handful of NS stack transfers. An NS SD70M-2 and Conrail C40-8W are the power. As the train goes through the crossing, a pair of NS units (C40-9 and C40-9W) travel lite on the IHB. The video continues as Metra gives horn for construction and the crossing.
The Conrail lead out as light power, I'll post that video in the CRHP format for another time.
