Actress Hayden Panettiere, known for starring in television series including Heroes and Nashville and films including Remember the Titans, has died at the age of 36.
Panettiere's publicist confirmed her death to CBS News. Authorities in Greenville, South Carolina, say EMS responded Sunday afternoon to an apartment complex where the actress was reported unresponsive. Medical assistance was provided, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
No cause of death has been announced, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing.
Panettiere spent more than three decades in the entertainment industry, beginning her career as a child actor before becoming a household name through Heroes. She later spoke publicly about struggles in her personal life and earlier this year discussed her experiences and memoir with CBS Mornings.
Her family is asking for privacy. Panettiere would have turned 37 on Friday.
