Hey everyone! Someone had suggested a video on the new Princess Charlotte's bonnet. I checked it out and realized how cute it would be and I think you guys will like this one. Worked only with 2 needles, straight. By measurements it should fit newborn to 6month maybe. Let me know. Hope you enjoy.

Items Used:
Clover Bamboo Straight Needles size 5 (3.75mm)
Bernet Softee Baby Yarn in Soft Yellow (3ply light yarn, 1 ball)
Tapestry Needle

Size:
0-6 Months; 14" head circumference

Gauge:
20 sts and 36 rows = 4" in garter st

TIP: When working a purl st then yarn over then a purl st, make sure to wrap yarn over the needle and back to the front, between your needles to lock your yarn over st in place. Yarn overs are easily lost when work them after and before a purl st.

Instructions:
Cast on 60 sts

Bottom Hem:
Row 1: Purl.
Row 2: Knit.
Repeat Rows 1 & 2 for 1 1/2", bind off or sew hem while working your last purl row.

Purl Hem: *Work st as if to purl & pick up st from cast on edge, then work st like normal purl, pulling through both cast on edge and live st; rep from * until all sts have been worked and hem is finished.

Bonnet:
Row 1 (rightside): K15, (P2, K2) twice, P2, K10, P2, (K2, P2) twice, K15
Row 2: K17, P1, YO, P1, K2, P1, YO, P1, K14, P1, YO, P1, K2, P1, YO, P1, K17
Row 3: K15, P2, (K3, P2) twice, K10, P2, (K3, P2) twice, K15
Row 4: K17, P3, K2, P3, K14, P3, K2, P3, K17
Row 5: K15, P2, K3, pass first st of sts just worked over last 2, P2, K3, pass first st of sts just worked over last 2, P2, K10, P2, K3, pass first st of sts just worked over last 2, P2, K3, pass first st of sts just worked over last 2, P2, K15

Repeat Rows 2 through 5 - 6 times; measures about 4"
Finish so you will be on a wrongside row.

Shaping:
Row 1 (wrongside): K44, K2tog, turn
Row 2: Sl1, K28, K2tog, turn
Repeat Row 2 until all side stitches are incorporated - 30 sts

Top Hem:
Pick up and knit 15 sts along side of hat.
Row 1: P45, pick up and knit 15 sts along side of hat - 60 sts
Row 2: Knit.
Row 3: Purl.
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 for 1 1/2", bind off.

Cut yarn, leaving long tail. Thread tapestry needle and sew up hem, by picking up st on hat and st from cast on edge.
Sew corners.

Straps: (make 2)
Cast on 65 sts
Work 3 Rows Garter st (knit every row)
On the 3rd Row bind off.
Attach straps to either corner of hat.

You're done. Enjoy your Princess worthy baby bonnet.
