Hey everyone! Day 6 of the Knit-A-Thon I have a basic video for you guys, how to bind off. This is a refresher for those hard core knitters and an instructional video for first time knitters. Not matter where your level, we all need to know how to bind off otherwise we could never finish our projects. Let me know if there is another way that you like to bind off your work in the comments section.

Instructions:
When you've reached the end of your work you will need to bind off in order to finish.
With your "live" stitches on your needles, hold them as if to work another row. Stitches in the left hand and empty needle in your right.

Now work the first 2 sts on your left needle. Once you have 2 sts on your right, take your left needle and pick up that first stitch off your right needle and pull it over and off your right needle. Leaving 1 st on your right.
Now, work another stitch from your left needle. You now have 2 sts on your right needle again. Use your left needle to lift the first sts on your right needle over and off. Now we're back to 1 st on our right needle.
Repeat this process until no stitches are left on our left needle.

When only 1 sts remains, pull the last loop a little bigger, cut yarn free from the yarn ball and thread it threw this last loop. Pull to tighten and fasten off.

Now you know how to bind off.
You can work this in knit or purl or even k1 p1. Plain knit bind off is the easiest and works with most patterns.

Items Used: Boye Aluminum Double Pointed Needles size 4 (3.5mm) Baby Bee Sweet Delight Prints Yarn in Kitty (3ply light, 60% Acrylic, 40% Polyamide) Stitch Marker Tapestry Needle Gauge: 24 sts and 36 rows = 4 in stockinette stitch Size: Approx. Newborn to 3 months Measurements: Cast on edge to tip = 3 1/4 Around = 3 1/2 Instructions: Cast on 22 sts Rib: Work K1, P1 rib for 5 rows Body: Knit every row, forming stockinette stitch (in the round), for 15 rows. Decreases: Row 1: *SSK, K to last 2 sts, K2tog; rep from * around. Row 2: Knit Repeat Rows 1 & 2 until 10 sts remain. Cut yarn. Weave through sts, pull tight closing top. Secure inside mitten. Here are the letter sizing that works with needles. Hook = Needle E = 4 F = 5 G = 6 H = 8 I = 9 J = 10 K = 10 1/2 Crochet Cast On Instructions: Make a slip knot on crochet hook. Hold yarn and knitting needle in left hand and crochet hook in right hand. With yarn behind needle, go over the needle with hook and grab yarn, pull through slip knot on hook. Also, can see this as working a single crochet over needle. Take yarn between needle and hook, to the back and repeat. Working a single crochet over needle and draw through loop on hook. Placing yarn between hook and needle to back. Repeat until one less amount of stitches needed are cast on. Slip remaining stitch on hook, onto needle.
