Hey everyone! I thought why not start the new year with a new channel trailer. But not just any channel trailer, a trailer letting you guys know what's in store for my channel in 2014.

Hey everyone! The is the final Hat of The Month for 2013. Ive had so much fun preparing a new hat every month. If you guys enjoyed this too let me know if you would like it again for next year. This Saxon Braided Brim hat is more intermediate to expert. The cable is what makes it difficult. But you can do this similar method with other cables as well for your brim. I hope you enjoy this hat and try it out.

Finished Measurements:
Circumference: 21 1/2 (23) inches
Height: 8 inches
Gauge:
24 sts and 21 rnds = 4 inches in Saxon Braid
15 sts and 18 rows = 4 inches in St st
Instructions:
Hat Brim:
Using provisional chain 30 sts and pick up 26 sts with hat yarn.
Work Rows 1 through 16 of Saxon Braid, 7 times. For medium/larger size, then work Rows 1 through 8 once.

2/2 RC: slip next 2 sts to cn, hold back, k2, k2 from cn
2/2 LC: slip next 2 sts to cn, hold front, k2, k2 from cn
2/1 RPC: slip next st to cn, hold back, k2, p1 from cn
2/1 LPC: slip next 2 sts to cn, hold front, p1, k2 from cn
2/2 RPC: slip next 2 sts to cn, hold back, k2, p2 from cn
2/2 LPC: slip next 2 sts to cn, hold front, p2, k2 from cn

Remove provisional cast on and use three needle bind off to connect top and bottom sets of stitches.
Crown:
Pick up 70 (75) sts around brim. Place marker.
Row 1-3: Knit
Row 4: *K5 (3), K2tog; rep from * around.
Row 5-7: Knit
Row 8: *K2, K2tog; rep from * around.
Row 9-11: Knit
Row 12: *K1, K2tog; rep from * around.
Row 13-15: Knit
Row 16: K2tog around
Row 17: K2tog around to last st, K1.
Cut yarn, draw yarn through remaining sts, pull tight.
Weave in all ends and enjoy.
