Hey everyone! It's that time again. May's Hat of The Month is Jasmine from Aladdin. When I saw this pattern from Bernat it was perfect for the idea I had for Jasmine's hat. It requires a little (or lot) of sewing but it all works out. Hope you guys enjoy and try this out. I'll see you for next month's hat. If you want to make a guess at what it might be comment below and you'll find out in June.

Items Used:
Clover Bamboo 16" Circular needle size 8 (5mm)
Red Heart With Love Yarn in Bluebell (7 oz, 370 yrds, #4 medium) 1 ball

Print This Pattern:

Size:
Average woman's head.

Gauge:
18 sts and 24 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch

Instructions:
Cast on 23 sts.
Row 1: K3, *P1, K3; rep from * across.
Row 2: K1, *P1, K3; rep from * across to last 2 sts, P1, K1.

Repeat Rows 1 & 2 until work measures 41".
Bind Off in pattern.

Fold work in half. Mark center. Unfold and cross right over left to form an "X".
Fold top of "X" back towards center mark. Stitch flaps to either side of center mark.
Stitch sides of hat to close reaming gap.

Items Used: Aluminum Crochet Hook Size E/4 (3.5mm) Baby Bee Sweet Delight Yarn in Berry Cute, Baby Gold, Boo Pink, Charming, Bashful & Kitty Bernat Softee Baby Yarn in White, Soft Lilac, Mint, & Yellow Tapestry Needle Print This Pattern: http://www.myhobbyiscrochet.com/2013/04/dahlia-flower.html Special Stitch: tr4tog or triple 4 together: [yo twice, insert hook in the stitch indicated in the pattern, draw loop through, (yo, draw through the first 2 loops, leaving the next loops on hook)*2 times]*4 times in the same stitch. You have 5 loops on the hook; yo, draw through all 5 loops on the hook. Fold the petals from the back to the front and work under petals, on the back ridges of the center, 1hdc in the first back ridge of the center (right under the beginning ch2), 2 hdc in each of the next 9 ridges corresponding to the 9 hdc of the center, slst into top of the first ch2. (20 stitches) Round 4: ch3, tr4tog in the front loop of the very next hdc, ch3, (slst in the front loop of the next hdc, ch3, tr4tog in the front loop of the next hdc, ch3)*9 times, ending with a slst in the stitch under beginning ch3. (10 petals made) Cut yarn. Fasten off. Weave in the loose ends. Arrange the petals in the right form. Maybe youll need to help the petals to pop out correctly by pushing them up from the backside . Automatic Spool Knitter Buy This: http://www.amazon.com/Caron-20293-Embellish-Knit-Machine-Kit/dp/B003W0AUQ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407504384&sr=8-1&keywords=automatic+spool+knitter Instructions: First, hold the device so the words are facing you and the lever is on your right. Thread your yarn through the small hole on the left of the machine. Pull yarn up and lay in the groove on top rim. Insert yarn down the center and out the bottom of the device, and attach the weighted clamp to bottom of yarn. Make sure all latches are open, if not, use your tapestry needle to pull the latch down. Begin turning the crank away from you, following the arrow on the side right of device. Let your 1st latch catch your yarn. Continue rotating the lever, but this time pull yarn over 2nd latch, rotate catching the yarn on the 3rd latch and skipping the 4th. Now just rotate the lever until desired length is achieved. Tips: Work iCord on side of table or in lap, keeping the weighted clamp hoovering never laying on any surface. You want to you the weight to pull your iCord down the device and keep your stitches even. You can use most light weight and worsted weight yarns. Experiment with different ones and see which on you like best. Finishing: When youve reached your length, go ahead and cut your yarn from the yarn ball. Pull yarn up to the top of the device and rotate lever, without catching the yarn tail, until all stitches have been released from the latches. Now thread your tail on your tapestry needle and weave in your 4 live stitches and pull tight to close. Now youve made an iCord fast and easy. Enjoy embellishing your knitted projects.$

Do you guys love this stitch as much as I do? This is so unique looking. I came across this stitch while I was searching for crochet baby booties. It looked so cool, I had to find out what it was. I found it was called crocodile stitch for the fact that it looks like scales. I immediately went to figured out how to make this stitch and now I cant wait to use it.
