A theatrical two-player satire about Western empire and extraction, “Hands that Steal from ‘Other’ Mouths” combines live video game performance, electro-pop music, and a teach-in on empire and extraction. The project began as a game commission for Meow Wolf that personifies the exploitative relationship between an anthropomorphic mouth (global South) and hand (global North) in a thrilling match of hide-and-seek. Since its humble button-mashing beginnings, the project transformed from an arcade game into an explosive show and geopolitical history lesson that feels like a concert and class at the same time.
Speakers: Temitope Olujobi, Senior Environment Artist and Solo Developer, Quasarch
Recorded at the 2026 Games for Change Festival, "Reimagining Play," July 21 to 22 at The Glasshouse in New York City.
