I learned the hand drill about a year and a half ago and hadn't practice it til recently. After 5 days of reconditioning my hands I was able to get a coal again.
Shockingly, this was one of the easiest coals I've ever gotten. No blisters, but do have sore (bruised) palms. Used Dog Fennel on Cabbage (Sabal) Palm. Temp 72F, 55% Humidity, 56F Dew Point. I think it was easier than expected because the humidity is lower than usual. It's usually around 80%.
