The Hamburg Hafengeburtstag (Hamburg Port Anniversary) is one of the largest and most popular maritime festivals in the world

Hafengeburtstag means "Port Birthday" in German. It celebrates the founding of the Port of Hamburg, which officially began on May 7, 1189, when Emperor Frederick Barbarossa granted Hamburg tax-free access to the Elbe River. This event is considered the birth of the port.

The festival is held every May, usually around the 7th, and lasts three to four days.
