Jill Blickstein talks with #ZeroAvia Founder and CEO Val Miftakhov about how the world’s largest airline is working toward zero-emission aviation. When you burn 4.5 million gallons of jet fuel annually, she says, you don’t get a pass just because cleaner #technology doesn’t exist yet; instead, American sees it as their responsibility to help develop the new technologies that will abate aviation emissions. To meet that responsibility, the airline is investing $100 million into new tech and has invested $24 billion in modernizing its aircraft fleet. Echoing speakers from Day 1, she reminds viewers that diving into uncharted waters is not for the faint of heart, but that new things are always difficult until they are achieved.
