GWR 2999 'Lady of Legend' in action on a photo charter at the West Somerset Railway on a dull and often very wet day, 24th April 2023.
The locomotive, a 'retro rebuild' of a 'Hall' class locomotive back to a 'Saint', was completed at the Didcot Railway Centre in 2018. The locomotive first steamed in early 2019.
The rebuild included the boiler, frames and other parts from 'Hall' class locomotive number 4942 'Maindy Hall' - new larger wheels and cylinders were cast.
Back in 1924 'Saint' class number 2925 'Saint Martin' was rebuilt into the prototype 'Hall' class locomotive number 4900. The last surviving 'Saint' class locomotive, 2920 'St David' was scrapped in 1953.
The video was filmed at Williton, Stogumber, Norton Fitzwarren, Nethercott and Nornvis Bridge.
