Guardian Heroes (1996 Sega Saturn Treasure)
Best Sega Saturn game made by one of the best video game companies ever.

Run Skill: Fairly easy
Ginjirou is commonly regarded as the fastest character. But for newer players, Han is objectively the safest choice.
The reason being is that Han is unique in obtaining a weapon in the game that will give him a considerable amount of stat increases.
After the end of each stage, you will be able to distribute stat points based on how many levels you've gained in the stage.
Here's what they are based on my knowledge:
STR gives bonus to physical attacking
VIT gives you more health
INT gives you stronger spells
MEN gives you more MP to spend (it may also help in defending against magic attacks)
AGI allows you to move and attack faster
LUC boosts attack and defense (it may also help negate damage)
There are multiple paths you can take in this game. The path I chose takes you to arguably the easiest final boss. As a bonus it also lets you skip arguably the hardest boss in the game.

Megaman 2 for the NES (Capcom 1989)
This is a hacked version of Megaman 2, it adds ammo to most of the weapons and adds changes to Time Stopper, Crash Bombs, and Leaf Shield.
It makes the game a breeze until the final boss, where the tweaks become questionable as the author decided to limit you of the only ammo usable on the final boss. You have just enough ammo to beat him.

Run Skill Level: Absolute cakewalk until final boss, then it becomes a real mess.
