Uploaded August 2026 | Updated September 2026, 1 week ago
Flea beetles have been a huge problem for brassicas this year, but I feel there are now quite a few less of them than there were. In this update I show how brassicas planted just five days ago are already avoiding much the damage. because they went in as larger plants.
I also compare larger and smaller transplants, which are kohlrabi transplanted one day ago at just 3 weeks since sowing,
I explain why early August is a better time to plant, and show how we're using mesh covers, regular watering and a little patience while the weather remains so dry.
Finally, I show newly planted radicchio under netting to keep rabbits off. Different covers for different potential problems.
