How do you know when a watermelon is truly ripe and sweet? 🍉
In this first part, I show you how to judge ripeness by looking at the tendrils and listening for that hollow sound.
These watermelons were polytunnel-grown, planted in mid-May from a late March sowing. Grown the no-dig way, with no feed or fertiliser added. The warmer, sunnier summer of 2025 has helped them thrive.
