This is a recruiting film for the post-WWII iteration of the Ground Observer Corps (1950-58), imploring Americans to volunteer for two hours a week as civilian enemy plane spotters. Radar couldn't do it all, so they helped fill the gap in our air defenses--especially when the Red bombers came in low! Folks hoping to thwart the Commies could report to their local Air Defense Filter Center by contacting the Civil Defense Office.

This Public Service Announcement (or "Public Service Project") came from the Advertising Council, now better known simply as the Ad Council. This video is not my typical upload, but I found it in a compilation of drive-in ads and didn't see it online. It's pretty cool so what the hell. It seems like the beginning is missing, no idea how much though.

No rights held or implied. (If you'd like this video removed for copyright reasons, please contact me rather than notifying YouTube, I will gladly take it down from this channel.) Check out more cool vintage video (maybe not as old as this particular clip) at oldtvads.blogspot.com...
