Sony shadow dropped a brand new PS5 game and it's the long rumored 2D Metroidvania God of War game, called God of War Sons of Sparta. And after just under 10 hours of playtime I'm mostly enjoying the experience. For what might be a totally inoffensive game that has some solid merits, it also has inherent flaws as a God of War game. And yet I can't shake the feeling that this is such a refreshing way to experience the IP from PlayStation. It harkens back to an era where these type of storytelling vehicles were more common place. Be it a whole new genre, art style, scope, or all of the above. Here's my thoughts on the game and why I think SIE should be doing more of this. Just with perhaps a closer inspection for the overall direction and finished product. Okay, getting back to my original boy 1.0 playthrough. Mr. puberty of war himself, Kratos.
