Glazing an Effervescent Mug. There are two glazes used on these. A contrasting glaze over the rim, and a floating glaze for the rest of the piece. They flow down the piece together, but the contrasting glaze stays somewhat separate and adds an extra layer of complexity to the pattern as they flow around the slip dots.
The tool used to dip is a car dent puller. There's a guide on my blog, but the basic rule is that if you can't get it to work then either there's an issue with your dent puller (the cheap ones can be awful) or there's an issue with your process. Check the blog post for details about both.
