Upon making contact with the driver, I immediately observed indicators consistent with impairment: slurred speech, glassy eyes, and unsteady movement.
When questioned, the driver gave vague and inconsistent answers regarding their whereabouts and recent activities. The individual appeared disoriented and displayed difficulty following simple instructions. At one point, the driver exited the vehicle without proper footwear and was unable to clearly describe where their shoes were located.
I advised the driver of my intent to conduct Standardized Field Sobriety Exercises (SFSEs). The individual initially agreed but shortly thereafter refused to participate any further. Despite multiple opportunities to comply, the subject declined and was placed under arrest for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
Observed Indicators of Impairment:
Slurred speech
Swaying and unsteady on feet
Watery, glassy eyes
Admission of alcohol consumption
Refusal to complete field sobriety exercises
The subject was taken into custody without further incident. This video is shared for educational and training purposes to illustrate DUI detection procedures and proper protocol during roadside investigations.
Charge:
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) – Operating a vehicle while normal faculties impaired
-----
