0) align with the wall facing south
1) move towards the river until Link is getting pushed to the left (tip of Link's hat is past the vertical seam; not precise)
2) turn around, put down a bomb in front of Link, turn around
3) wait for the bomb to explode and break the crate once you land on the platform
Not really useful but doesn't require any item besides a bomb.
You can also make it to the ledge with the silver rock by getting the same initial position (step 1) and turning ESS left for one frame, pulling out any kind of explosive and waiting for the detonation without holding a control stick direction.
