The German King Tiger tank at December 44 Historical Museum in La Gleize was part of Kampfgruppe Peiper and saw action during the Battle of the Bulge. During fierce fighting with American tanks and tank destroyers, the Tiger’s gun barrel was destroyed. With dwindling fuel and supplies leaving their armored vehicles inoperable, Kampfgruppe Peiper abandoned the tank in a meadow near the village.
