The Battle of Foy, Belgium, took place on January 13, 1945, during the final stages of the Battle of the Bulge. At the time, the village of Foy was occupied by German forces and had to be cleared to secure the area around Bastogne. Companies E and I of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) were assigned to assault the village and drive out the German defenders.
After intense fighting, American forces successfully captured Foy, but German troops launched several counterattacks in an effort to retake the village. Following a fierce back-and-forth battle, the Americans held their ground, and Foy ultimately remained under American control.
