This is more or less a scam of a CFL, the Tyrone Imports item number
EL5008. I have no idea where this was sold, both the packaging and the bulb have very little information noted.
This CFL likely dates back to the early 2000s, and while there's some major issues with the packaging, the bulb itself actually seems decent. It appears to be some type of programmed start. There are vents in the ballast for air flow. The quality of light the bulb outputs, while not a color temperature I like, seemed quite decent. There was no flickering, strobing, or other undesired effects.
The bulb is advertised as a 20 watts unit, allegedly bright enough to replace a standard 100w incandescent light bulb. My testing revealed this to be only about a 5 watts CFL, which isn't even an option on the chart. The brightness seems to be comparable to approximately a 40w incandescent bulb, which isn't useless but is a far cry from what's claimed.
I did leave it running for an extended period of time after this taping and it didn't get any brighter or draw any more power. It also never got particularly hot. It's too bad this is such an unappealing color, I'd use this if it were regular warm white.
