Looks like the Apple don’t fall too far from the Microsoft tree
Bill Gates’ daughter’s discount app is kinda like Honey in more ways than one - because she was found to be knowingly injecting cookie data for sales commissions and profit on deals that had absolutely nothing to do with her service
It’s called “Cookie Stuffing” - and Phoebe Gates was allegedly actively pushing for it to continue on she and her college roommate’s startup, Phia - likely until very recently
Capital One Shopping’s accusing them of secretly opening alternative browser tabs that force their affiliate links to be applied to whatever purchases that the user’s paying for, even if Phia wasn’t involved in the buying process at all
Employees of Gates’ claimed the whole debacle was just a bug - but Bloomberg seems to think everybody involved’s been knowingly participating in these practices for many months
