I asked my twitch chat a few weeks ago that if I were to do a Pico cover, who would play Pico. My chat pretty much listed everyone and I realized that while I had this song stuck in my head and was really pumped to do a cover of it, it had to be me.
I've known for a very long time how to do shots with multiple of myself in them, but haven't found a situation to use it that I thought could be cool until now. My brother is in town and helped me really plan out something interesting and fun for this one. We planned out the shots and it ended up looking really cool in the end.
I was floored also at how close I was able to get to Pico's voice with just an 8 string guitar and a wah pedal. I originally thought about picking up a talk box or something to get the effect, but I really wanted to first try getting the effect in the same vein as the other FNF covers and I think it ended up working out really well this way. I first discovered Black Desert Online back when it released when I saw a video of someone recreating Emma Watson in its absolutely stunning character creator that holds up more than five years later. I remember spending 10 hours in the character creator alone that I was so tired when I finally got around to playing it, that I didnt even have the energy that night to get through the tutorial. It was clear to me that this game was something else and though its not been at the absolute forefront of MMORPGs since, the game has an amazing community and player base that keeps it alive.
I was approached from the company to make a cover from the OST and they brought my attention to this track. I thought it was absolutely slamming and I couldnt wait to dig in. Contrary to my previous feelings on covering already metal songs in games, I have come to absolutely love playing songs from games that are made with the guitar in mind rather than keyboard or even just clicked in by mouse. It not only makes it easier to lay down and wrap my fingers around, but lets me work on my practical metal guitar chops and also metal production in an environment the song is inherently built for.

This was the one cover I said I would never do.
The reason why is silly but I think it was important to an older me. I really didnt feel like I enjoyed Halo all that much growing up. I still remember playing it for the first time in a Circuit City (OLD) when it had just came out, and I was really excited to play it. I spent countless hours enjoying the multiplayer, but I really struggled to enjoy the story. The whole thing felt like such a slog to me for some reason.
In the early days of YouTube for me, I always felt like what made a cover good was the players emotional attachment to the game. I really thought you could feel it listening to someone who loved the game rather than just someone putting it out because it got views. I was so committed to making a name for myself as someone who only did songs from games I liked.
I enjoyed making this cover, and I really love this song. So its strange to think that my enjoyment of a story mode in a gmae I otherwise enjoyed barred me from doing this for so long. I really did have a blast getting to play this iconic song on guitar and add my own flair to it. Its nice to line this up with the rerelease while others are enjoying it again so it felt like a great time.

Ive had quite a time recently speedrunning this game, but rarely ever make it to this part. My stream chat however, will tell you that every time I get to the final part I get this riff stuck in my head and talk about how badly I want to cover it. Predictably so, it was so much fun to arrange and track.
I knew that this would be significantly easier to pull off than some of the other tracks Ive been doing because of the repetitvie nature of it, and since I really needed to churn something out quick this week after doing a filming project in LA this past week, this song was perfect to tackle now.
