Moraine Lake is one of the most beautiful, picturesque places we've ever visited. The blue-green colour of the water with the mountains in the backdrop looks unreal and although we've been here before, these views never get old.
We started the hike up to the rockpile trail and then it stared to rain. After about thirty minutes the rain finally stopped so we were able to continue on the rockpile trail.
The top of the rockpile is known as the twenty dollar view because this scenery was on the back of the Canadian twenty dollar bill in the 1970's.
Moraine Lake is situated at an elevation of over 1800 meters in what is called the Valley of the Ten Peaks in Banff National Park and the views from here are breathtaking.
