FRANCIS BAY
Born Francis Bayetz, he quickly changed his name to ‚Francis Bay‘ and das such he became the best known Belgian band leader, arranger and composer.
Bay did his music studies at the conservatory of Mechelen and he started his career during the 1930s with the orchestra of Paul Godwin.
After that he joined the well known Ramblers, but only for a short while. He created his own orchestra in 1948 and when television was launched in Belgium in the early 1950s, Bay joined the BRT (Belgian Radio & TV) as one of the first professional musicians.
He recorded several „rock cha cha“ albums during the 1950s and 1960s and he was the Belgian conductor for all Belgian entries at the Eurovision songfestival during the 60s and 70s. He also composed several TV tunes and themes for numerous Belgian TV entertainment programs.
He was the musical director in 1962 for the famous Bob Benny Show, a show that featured the well known Belgian singer Bob Benny.
