MFF : One of the strangest musical instruments, as far as the making of it is concerned, is the didgeridoo
This long musical pipe from Australia is made from a log of the eucalyptus tree. This pipe is buried inside a termite's mound. The termites gnaw away, leaving a hollow pipe.
Obviously, didgeridoos can be made by hand as well, but they then sound differently.

In the 1950's Tony Osborne was musical director, with his band the Brass Hats, for Britain's first pop music television show, the BBC’s Six-Five Special. When this was superceded by Juke Box Jury in 1959, he wrote and recorded its theme song "Juke Box Fury" as Ozzie Warlock and the Wizards. Melavano, Sordo Gomez and Laszlo Tabor are other noms de plume he sometimes used.
Amongst the many artists he worked with, Tony Osborne wrote and arranged for Shirley Bassey, was musical director for Judy Garland's final concerts in 1969, made two albums with Eartha Kitt in 1984, and in the mid-1990's, aged 74 and the baby of the band, he came out of retirement to lead the last genuine Glenn Miller Orchestra on a tour of Australia, featuring the six surviving members of the bands led by Miller himself.

A brass instrument is a musical instrument that produces sound by sympathetic vibration of air in a tubular resonator in sympathy with the vibration of the player's lips. Brass instruments are also called labrosones, literally meaning "lip-vibrated instruments".
The view of most scholars is that the term "brass instrument" should be defined by the way the sound is made, as above, and not by whether the instrument is actually made of brass. Thus one finds brass instruments made of wood, like the alphorn, the cornett, the serpent and the didgeridoo, while some woodwind instruments are made of brass, like the saxophone.

Tony Osborne demonstrates his composing and arranging skills with the "hypnotic" and somewhat addictive composition "Helados". Osborne wrote the piece especially for his 1967 album "Brass in the night".
The seemingly "simple" structure of the song (featuring some fabulous counter melodies however) makes this one both original and surprising at the same time. Enjoy !
