In Troup County, Georgia lies one of the most historic cemeteries in the region — founded in 1829 by both Baptist and Presbyterian congregations.
On this journey, I’m joined once again by Mrs. Linda McCardle as we explore the grounds of a church that predates the Civil War and holds incredible stories stretching back to the American Revolution.
Here, side by side, rest a Revolutionary War hero, a Revolutionary War heroine, and a Revolutionary War traitor — a man who sided with the British during the war. Their stories, told through timeworn headstones, reveal a powerful slice of early American life and conflict.
We also discover the grave of a missionary and countless other remarkable stories carved into these markers. Join me for an unforgettable look into faith, division, and legacy — all preserved within this forgotten churchyard.
