This thing SAT for over 25+ years without ANY attention at all, and it's finally time to give it a little attention. It REALLY is amazing how many things can go wrong with a machine JUST because it's left outside and NOT ever used. That's the case on this little Baby Bulldozer!
This is my 1970's Caterpillar D3 LGP Bulldozer with a 6 way blade and wide tracks. It's powered by a Caterpillar 3204 diesel engine, and the machine is in fairly good shape considering it's lack of care over the last decade and a half, but it does have some major issues!
Today the plan is to dive into the hydraulic system and start fixing things so we can get this little dozer to the point that it's able to be actually tested and then used! That all starts with the hydraulic system!
Hydraulic hoses have blown and the rest are in TERRIBLE shape, and most of the hydraulic cylinders leak fluid really BAD, so before we can safely put this thing to work and test on it, we need to get that addressed!
With the help of Hercules Sealing Products(@sealingproducts ) I was able to find all the rebuild kits in order to get all of the hydraulic cylinders for the 6 way blade rebuilt and ready to rock and roll! I was also able to get all the tools I needed to make the process of replacing the seals extremely easy!
So sit back, relax, and join me as we dive into my little bulldozer and start getting this machine back to usable condition so we can save it from the scrap yard and put it back to work after ALL these years!
