This chorizo torta is the Mexican sandwich I ate every other day for nearly two years.

Back when I was working in the food truck world, there was a Mexican truck down the block in Fort Greene that made a chorizo torta I could not stop eating. It had everything I love about tacos and burritos, plus the one thing they do not have, bread.

In this video, I am recreating that sandwich from scratch with homemade chorizo, creamy refried beans, guacamole, lime pickled red onions, shredded lettuce, pickled jalapeños, and Oaxaca cheese caramelized directly onto the bread.

The result is rich, spicy, crispy, creamy, and packed with everything a proper torta should have.

This is the chorizo torta that takes me straight back to my food truck days.
