The Ford Fathom and Slate Truck could create one of the biggest affordable electric pickup battles of 2027. With both targeting prices below $30,000, the differences between these 2 electric trucks could determine which one attracts mainstream buyers.

The Slate Truck takes an extremely simple approach, starting at $24,950 before destination charges and giving owners the ability to customize the vehicle with additional equipment. Ford is taking almost the opposite approach with the Fathom, targeting a starting price of $28,350, or approximately $29,945 including charges, while promising a more complete vehicle from the factory.

That creates an interesting comparison. Is saving roughly $3,545 enough to justify the Slate Truck's more basic design and approximately 205 mile range, or will buyers spend a little more for the Ford?

There are still major questions surrounding both vehicles. Slate Auto must prove customers really want a minimalist electric pickup, while Ford must prove it can manufacture its new affordable electric vehicle at scale and keep real world prices close to its target.

Which would you choose for your money: the Ford Fathom or the Slate Truck? Let us know in the comments, and remember to like the video and subscribe to DPCcars for more new vehicle news and future electric truck coverage.
