The 2027 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is getting more power, with Hyundai targeting 242 horsepower and 280 pound feet of torque. The next generation Tucson also promises improved performance, strong fuel efficiency, and a major redesign.
Power comes from an upgraded hybrid system centered around a turbocharged 1.6 liter gasoline engine. Compared with the outgoing Tucson Hybrid, output increases by 11 horsepower and 9 pound feet of torque, while acceleration from 0 to 62 miles per hour improves to approximately 8.5 seconds.
Hyundai is also targeting nearly 41 miles per gallon based on the Korean testing cycle, although official United States Environmental Protection Agency fuel economy ratings could be different. The next generation Tucson is expected to be larger, making its eventual American fuel economy figures particularly interesting.
A non electrified turbocharged 1.6 liter gasoline engine is also planned, with approximately 177 horsepower and 160 pound feet of torque. Hyundai says this version will be slower and considerably less fuel efficient than the hybrid.
The redesigned Hyundai Tucson is scheduled to launch in South Korea during the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by a wider global rollout in 2027.
