For A Few Hours…Music Saved Me 🎶🖤
Last night at the Lion Babe show in Chicago…I escaped.
And after everything happening politically, socially, and emotionally these days…I needed that more than I realized.
The moment I walked into Chop Shop, I felt the energy shift.
Soulful people. Creative spirits. Real music lovers.
The kind of atmosphere that feels rare now in a world becoming more manufactured, more corporate, more disconnected from authenticity.
That’s why I’ve respected Lion Babe for years.
Jillian Hervey and Lucas Godman (Astro Raw) have never felt industry-created. Their music feels spiritual, tribal, futuristic, soulful, and rooted all at the same time. It’s not just music you hear…it’s music you FEEL in your body.
And listen…
I danced ALL NIGHT in heels on a bad knee like I was back in my dancing days. 😂🔥
The VIP experience was beautiful. They even sent me vinyl albums and merchandise before the show, which made the experience feel personal before I even arrived.
Meeting them face to face and giving them their flowers meant something to me because I deeply respect artists who protect their authenticity in an industry that constantly pressures people to become copies.
Earlier that afternoon, I walked around Wicker Park revisiting my old stomping grounds.
Back in the day, I worked at the legendary Double Door and watched underground artists tear stages apart night after night.
REAL artistry.
REAL creativity.
REAL freedom.
And walking through Wicker Park again stirred something in me.
Yes, the neighborhood has changed. Corporate money and gentrification have tried to sanitize parts of the culture and push out some of the creative energy that made the area electric in the first place.
But underneath all that…
I still felt the pulse.
Music pouring out of venues.
Vintage shops.
Artists.
Writers.
Musicians.
Creative people still choosing expression over conformity.
And for a few hours…
I forgot about all the ugliness in the world.
I just danced.
I vibed.
I remembered who I was before survival mode became normal.
Lion Babe reminded me that art still heals people.
And honestly?
We need more of that right now.
Much respect to Jillian and Lucas.
Chicago better be ready when Lion Babe comes back…
Because I’ll absolutely be there. 🦁🔥✨
