Emeka Ogboh is an artist whose immersive installations explore how memory, place and identity shape our sensory experience of the world. For Folkestone Triennial 2025, he presents Ode to the Channel, a multichannel sound piece inspired by scientific research and oral histories of the English Channel’s geological and human past. Alongside sound, Ogboh invites visitors to taste specially brewed beer and ice lollies that evoke the Channel’s salt, minerals and shoreline. Working across art, music and food, Ogboh’s practice reflects on migration, belonging and cultural exchange, with his work shown internationally at documenta, Venice Biennale and more. He lives between Lagos and Berlin.
